The Timeline

The standard dental implants timeline at our practice includes your initial consultation, surgery, healing period, and restoration. This timeline will vary from patient to patient, and extra steps may be necessary to prepare you for dental implants. At ProSmile, all of your dental implant treatment steps are under one roof. Consultation

Your consultation is an important aspect of your treatment. If you are a candidate for dental implant treatment, Dr. Freimuth will take the time to explain the procedure and what to expect along the way. This is also the time to discuss your health history so that we can understand and begin treatment planning. Dr. Freimuth will determine the type of dental implant, and the appropriate restoration for your unique case. He will also determine whether you will require bone grafting prior to surgery.

Surgical Phase

Your procedure will be meticulously planned well before the day of your surgery. Given our unsurpassed experience and expertise, you can rest assured that your operation will run smoothly and efficiently. We will also offer sedation dentistry, if needed, to ensure your comfort.

Healing Phase

The healing period typically lasts for 3-4 months, and it is highly dependent upon each patient’s individual case. For example, patients who had a bone graft prior to surgery may need additional time to heal. Dr. Freimuth and team will give you very specific post-operative instructions and guidelines to make your recovery as quick and comfortable as possible.

Restorative Phase

This step takes place after your implants have fully integrated with your jawbone tissue and any needed abutments have been placed. At that time, they are ready to be affixed with an implant-supported restoration. We offer a variety of fixed and removable implant-supported restorations so that your new smile will look great and function well. After your restoration has been placed, we will make sure it fits properly and that you understand how to care for it.
